Aerial view of a giant painting on grass showing a girl and a boy folding paper figures, with autumn trees and a sunset behind, on the Gurten near Bern, by Saype.

🌱 “Tissu d’humanité” Shows Two Children Folding Paper Figures — Saype, Gurten, Bern, Switzerland 🇨🇭

📍 See it on the map

Seen from above, a girl and a boy sit on a grassy hillside, each folding small paper figures, with a chain of paper dolls laid out in front of them. Autumn trees and a glowing sunset sky frame the huge painting.

Saype made the 2,700-square-meter painting with Handicap International and unveiled it on September 25, 2026. The chalk- and charcoal-based paint goes straight onto the grass and fades with wind, rain and sun, so the paper chain is meant to stay unfinished.

Blue monochrome mural of a bearded man beside a wrecked sailing ship, paired with a close-up of his face in Fremantle, by Creaero.

📍 See it on the map

In blue monochrome, a weathered bearded man with windswept hair gazes right. A wrecked sailing ship with tall masts rests at the left, and stone cairns rise at the right, where a small figure in period dress stands. The second photo is a close-up.

Creaero painted it for PIAZZA, the privately funded arts precinct in Fremantle, with Blank Walls also credited. The title points to the Batavia, a Dutch ship that left Texel in October 1628 for the Dutch East Indies and wrecked on Morning Reef in the Houtman Abrolhos on June 4, 1629.

💡 Nerd Fact: Of the 322 people aboard the Batavia, 40 drowned and the rest reached shore, where a murderous mutiny followed while the commander was away seeking rescue. Western Australian Museum archaeologists later recovered cannon, an anchor and timbers from the stern between 1970 and 1974.
