Fangs, Fungi and a Pavilion Dressed in Tiles

Masks come off on a parking wall in Valence, a heart glows inside an open rib cage in Ocotlán and a red-haired woman keeps two cats above a Paris street. Several walls come from late-summer festivals in Ferrol, Maubeuge and Aruba.

“Sant Andreu Vampire” is at Carrer de Jorba 2D in Barcelona’s Sant Andreu neighborhood. Vampire women are not new territory for Seoane, who has also exhibited a graffiti show titled “Matriarcat vampíric” at the Espai 210 neighborhood center.

Emeid painted the portrait for Rurales Festival with Bomb the Wall in Riccia, Molise. The wall stands in Contrada Crocelle, on the outskirts of the town.

Häcko Crâne was one of the artists at the 18th Meninas de Canido, the festival that fills Ferrol’s Canido neighborhood with new walls every September. The 2026 edition ran from September 4 to 6.

💡 Nerd Fact: Meninas de Canido started with a paint roller. Founder Eduardo Hermida says a neighbor covered one of his first murals on the neighborhood’s abandoned houses, so he called in his artist friends for the first weekend of September 2008.

The mural was painted for the Centro Universitario de la Ciénega, the University of Guadalajara campus in Ocotlán, Jalisco. The campus’s CUCiénega lettering stands on the building behind the wall.

Blue-and-white tile patterns cover the pavilion in large diamonds and bands. Yellow scrolls, birds and shell-like forms run along the top edge, above a row of parked cars.

Add Fuel painted “Carnival Nautical” on the First Avenue Pavilion at 800 Ocean Avenue from September 4 to 16, 2026, as part of Wooden Walls’ PlusOne program. He drew on seashells, seahorses and ornament from the town’s Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre and Carousel Building.

💡 Nerd Fact: Despite the color, the word “azulejo” does not come from azul, Portuguese for blue. It traces back to an Arabic term for a small, smooth polished stone.

The town council of Sierra de Fuentes, in Cáceres, commissioned the mural. Sojo describes the pañuelo de cien colores as a defining element of traditional Extremaduran dress. The artist, Jonatan Carranza, was born in Madrigalejo in the same province and came to murals through graffiti.

Skrupskis comes from Kupiškis, where he started the town’s legal graffiti wall in 2024. His earlier murals there portray local figures such as forester Povilas Matulionis and are part of the town’s street art walking route.

💡 Nerd Fact: The long red nose belongs to the tengu. The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes two main types of these mountain spirits from Japanese folk belief: one with a birdlike beak, the other with a human face and an enormously long nose.
