🌻 A Tribute to Milton Nascimento — By Kaká Chazz in Belo Horizonte, Brazil 🇧🇷
Two portraits of Milton Nascimento fill the high-rise: an older version in a red shirt above a younger one in a green cap. Yellow and purple leaves curl around the singer, with two swallows crossing the orange background.
Created for the 20th edition of Fábrica de Graffiti, with artistic direction by Roger Dee, at 347 Avenida Álvares Cabral.
💡 Nerd Fact: The tribute covers 1,600 square meters and shows the Brazilian singer at two stages of his life. “Bituca” is Nascimento’s nickname.

🏺 A Room Above the Street — By Elle Koziupa in Southend-on-Sea, UK 🇬🇧

🍎 “Äppelodling” — By James Reka in Eslöv, Sweden 🇸🇪
A woman built from flowing gray, cream, red and black shapes holds a wooden crate. Red and yellow apples pile up inside it, with eyes peering out from among the fruit.
Painted for Artscape at Fiskaregatan 4.
💡 Nerd Fact: “Äppelodling” draws on Skåne’s apple orchards and cider production. The apples with eyes nod to the tree of knowledge and the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

🪙 A Menina With a Floating Coin — By POCH in Ferrol, Spain 🇪🇸
Teal and violet curls frame a yellow face beneath a visible pink brain. The figure wears a blue-and-pink court dress with gold lacing and holds her palm beneath a floating gold coin.
Painted for Meninas de Canido, a festival started in 2008 by artist Eduardo Hermida that fills the neighborhood’s walls with versions of Velázquez’s Las Meninas.
💡 Nerd Fact: In the 1656 original, the meninas are the queen’s maids of honor, attending the Infanta Margarita. Velázquez painted himself into the scene, working at a large canvas.

✈️ A Child Among Drawn Warplanes — By Ricardo Romero in Santiago do Escoural, Portugal 🇵🇹
A curly-haired child looks straight ahead from the white tower, painted in black-and-white photographic detail. Simple line drawings of tanks, warplanes, missiles and stick figures cover the wall around the portrait.
Painted for Arte Rupestre at Festa da Esteva with Cotovia Tagarela and the Junta de Freguesia de Santiago do Escoural, curated by Robert Panda.
💡 Nerd Fact: The nearby Escoural Cave, found by chance in a local quarry in 1963, holds Upper Paleolithic drawings of horses and bovines.
