Photo: Paul Zappa, as published by Street Art Utopia
A magenta owl stares out of a gable wall on Clift House Road in south Bristol, looking out over Coronation Road, half hidden behind grey baroque scrolls, with a billboard sharing the same wall. Bournemouth-based artist Tech Moon painted it for Upfest 2022; Art UK catalogues it simply as “Owl”, while Street Art Utopia first posted it as “Pink Wisdom”. Art UK estimates the mural at about 7 by 8 metres and lists the mural as extant, but gives no date for that. The newest photo with a recorded date was taken on 3 July 2022.

- Painted for Upfest 2022Inspiring City’s round-up of the 2022 festival, published 29 May 2022: “Bournemouth based Tech Moon’s Owl is the latest piece to look out over Coronation Road.” Art UK dates the mural c.2022 and records it as “created for Bristol Upfest and associated events”. Inspiring City, 2022 · Art UK
- Owl or Pink Wisdom?Art UK catalogues the work as “Owl”, and Inspiring City calls it “Tech Moon’s Owl”. Street Art Utopia posted it in June 2022 as “Pink Wisdom”, and a Flickr photo from July 2022 repeats that name, repeating the Street Art Utopia headline almost word for word. We could not see the artist’s own post to settle it. Art UK · Inspiring City · Flickr, Elliott Brown
- About 7 by 8 metres, and it shares the wallArt UK gives estimated measurements of “H 700 x W 800 cm (E)” and describes “a mural with a large owl on a pink, heavily scrolled background”. A commercial billboard sits on the left half of the same gable, and the scrolls run around it in every photo we found. Art UK · Inspiring City · Flickr
- An artist with an owl habitA January 2022 profile in Bournemouth University’s Buzz says Tech Moon has a “big affinity” for animals, and adds: “The 50ft high street art owl in Boscombe is one of his proudest works of art”. Street Art Cities lists that Boscombe owl separately, on Ashley Road in Bournemouth. Buzz, 2022 · Street Art Cities

Every stamp links to the dated source. The green stamp is Elliott Brown’s Flickr photo of the wall on Clift House Road, taken from a car, with the camera date 3 July 2022. The amber stamp is Inspiring City’s Upfest 2022 round-up, published 29 May 2022 with a photo of the finished owl. Art UK lists the mural as “extant” and has nine photos of it by Paul Francis, but gives no date for the record or the photos. Their billboard advertises Sky’s series Sweetpea as “Coming October” beside Netflix’s Bridgerton, and Sweetpea premiered on 10 October 2024 (Wikipedia), so the photos were most likely taken in autumn 2024; because Art UK records no date, we do not count them as a dated sighting. Inspiring City’s Upfest 2024 round-up mentions only one new mural on Coronation Road that year, by Jagung, on a different building. We found no photo of the owl with a recorded date after July 2022.
